FROM PORT ROYAL

Arrival of the Atlantic –

Another Installment of Cotton –

The Steamer Planter,

With More Heavy Cannon,

Surrendered by her Crew.

The steamer Atlantic, Capt. O. ELDRIDGE, arrived at this port yesterday, having left Port Royal on May 14.  She brings the mails, and 201 bags of cotton, consigned to Collector Barnet.

Among her passengers are Brig.-Gen. GILMORE, who conducted the siege of Fort Pulaski, Capt. A.B. ELY, Assistant Adjutant General of Gen. BENHAM’s staff, and a large number of subordinate officers.

Among the vessels in port was the rebel steamer Planter, a rebel vessel, which had been brought in by ROBERT SMALLS, a contraband pilot. The crew, with their families, who were on board, brought with them Charleston papers of May 12. There were on the vessel seven heavy guns and one 8-inch rifled cannon, which were to have been mounted on Fort Ripley, a work in course of construction in Charleston harbor.

We are indebted to Purser FORDHAM, of the Atlantic, for favors.
